Current Rate Method
Applying the Current Rate Method
When the foreign entity's functional currency is its local currency, the current rate method is used. Most balance sheet accounts are translated using the current exchange rate, while equity accounts generally use historical rates.
Summary
The current rate method is the most commonly tested translation approach under U.S. GAAP.
