Estimating Ending Inventory
When a physical inventory count is impractical or impossible, companies may estimate ending inventory using accepted estimation techniques. These methods are commonly used after disasters or for interim financial reporting.
Note
Inventory estimation methods do not replace physical counts for annual reporting.
