Classification of Liabilities
Current vs. Noncurrent Liabilities
Liabilities are classified based on when they are expected to be settled. Proper classification allows analysts to evaluate short-term liquidity needs and long-term financing obligations.
Note
Current liabilities are generally expected to be settled within one operating cycle or one year, whichever is longer.
Summary
Liability classification helps assess both immediate payment obligations and long-term financial commitments.
